Board of Directors
The role of the Board of Directors is to hire the Executive Director and oversee the overall direction and strategy of LIFE CIL. At least 51% of our Board of Directors must be individuals with disabilities.
Board Member Qualifications Include:
- Must be a member of LIFE Center for Independent Living
- Personal experience with disability preferred
- Knowledge and/or skills needed by the Board
- Ability to relate to and communicate well with people
- Willing to commit approximately four hours per month
Board Member Responsibilities Include:
- Attend all meetings of the Board (usually once a month)
- Participate in at least one committee of the Board as appointed by the President (usually once a month)
- Participate in Center activities
- Understand LIFE CIL’s philosophy, goals, services, and advocacy issues
- Inform Secretary of any changes in personal information
- Advance the goals and objectives of LIFE CIL
- Support all policies and decisions established by the Board
- Refrain from acting in the name of LIFE CIL without prior approval
