Job Opportunities

LIFE Center for Independent Living (LIFE CIL) advertises job opportunities that are available in at least the following places: in the Center, on our website and on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/lifecil). We will also share the employment opportunity with area Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) offices and other Centers for Independent Living around the state.

Vision Access Advocate

$17.50/hour

 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (37.5 hours/week)

The successful applicant will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to promoting independent living for persons who are blind or have low vision.

 

Skills and abilities should include (with or without accommodations):

  • Knowledge of visual disabilities.
  • Expertise in assistive devices and low vision aids for persons with visual disabilities.
  • Understanding of aging issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with seniors with vision loss.
  • Knowledge of area human services and resources needed for independent living.
  • Effective interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Skills in peer mentoring and training.
  • Ability to travel throughout four-county service area.
  • Personal experience with disability helpful; commitment to independent living philosophy and advocacy for the rights of persons with disabilities essential.
